Second Front was the first performance art troupe in Second Life and one of the key places where I worked through avatar embodiment. The group used virtual space as a stage for absurd, political and performative actions that drew from Dada, Fluxus, Situationism and tactical media.

For me, Second Front was not an escape into an unreal world. It was a way to test how reality changes when the performing body becomes distributed across avatar, screen, server and audience. The avatar was a body, a mask, a puppet, a camera subject and a social agent all at once.

The performances also carry forward my tactical media work. A virtual action can occupy space, disrupt expectation, create documentation and become part of public discourse. The medium changes, but the question remains: where can an artist intervene inside a system rather than merely describe it?
