Creative & interactive media
Project-based studio work across interactive environments, web, motion and emerging platforms, grounded in concept and critique.
Teaching is contiguous with the artwork and the writing: a way of building shared tools for reading and making within mediated reality.
I teach creative digital media as a critical and material practice, not as a set of software tutorials. Students learn to treat tools as arguments: to ask what a medium assumes, who it serves, and what it makes hard to see. The studio and the seminar run together, so that making and theory inform one another rather than alternating.
My own work as a technological artist — computational systems read through critical theory — sets the tone. Constraint, omission, low resolution and the question of authorship are as much teaching subjects as they are studio concerns. The aim is graduates who can build, but who also know why they are building and at what cost.
Creative and interactive digital media; experimental visual communication; animation and motion; media art history and theory; emerging media (VR, AR, AI); media literacy; computational and generative practice.
Project-based studio work across interactive environments, web, motion and emerging platforms, grounded in concept and critique.
From tactical media and net art to virtual worlds and synthetic culture, read alongside the critical theory that frames them.
Code as material: algorithmic image, pattern, constraint and the aesthetics of systems, in the lineage of the algorists.
Immersive and augmented space and machine-generated imagery treated critically — as apparatus, labor and cultural prompt, not novelty.
Reading media systems: how mediation enters the world and begins to act, and how to make that legible to others.
Advising independent and graduate projects across art, design and media, from proposal through exhibition.
I give workshops and public lectures on tactical media, low-resolution aesthetics, tapestry and computational pattern, AR and contested space, and AI and posthuman authorship. Get in touch →
Teaching connects directly to the writing and curation, and to studio work in machine drawing, tapestry and AI.
