Writing and Curation
Critical writing and exhibition-making as parallel forms of media practice.
Writing and curation have always been part of my practice. I do not think of them as separate from the artwork. An essay, exhibition, interface or catalogue can create a frame through which media culture becomes visible.
My writing includes Variant Analyses and essays on virtuality, tactical media, AR, digital culture, media art and the unstable conditions of authorship. As editor-in-chief of Intelligent Agent, I worked within a critical community concerned with digital art before many of its terms had stabilized.
Curatorial projects such as Through the Mesh, The Wanted Pavilion, Weird Media and AI-focused exhibitions continue the same work: they build contexts for artists who are dealing with technological, political and perceptual change.
