Variant Analyses
Interrogations of New Media Art and Culture — collected critical writing.
Variant Analyses: Interrogations of New Media Art and Culture gathers critical writing produced across decades of practice. It treats new media art not as a fixed object but as a set of variants — tactical media, virtual worlds, net art, low-resolution images, unstable authorship and technological mediation read against one another rather than in isolation.
The book runs parallel to the artwork. Where the practice builds media systems, the writing supplies the frameworks for reading them: how mediation enters the world, who it serves, and what it makes visible or hard to see. Many chapters began as essays for journals, catalogues and anthologies, including the decade of editorial work at Intelligent Agent.
