Iconography

Iconography follows a single thread — the icon — across regimes of the image. The sacred icon, the art-historical motif, the graphical-interface glyph, the brand mark, the meme and the AI-generated picture are treated as one continuous problem: how an image becomes a sign, and how that sign is believed.

The show brings together work that reads images as operative rather than decorative — pictures that do things, stand for things and organise attention. It connects the older questions of belief and verisimilitude in my own practice to the current condition of synthetic, endlessly reproduced imagery.
