Through the Looking Glass
An exhibition on the screen as threshold: reflection, virtuality and passage into mediated space.
Through the Looking Glass takes the screen seriously as a threshold rather than a surface. Borrowing Carroll’s figure of the mirror that can be stepped through, the show gathers work that treats the display as a passage into virtual, augmented and reflected space.
The exhibition moves between reflection and immersion: VR worlds, AR overlays, scanned environments and works that fold the viewer’s own image back into the piece. The recurring question is what it means to cross over — to enter a mediated space and be changed, or implicated, by the crossing.
