(re)distributions is an exhibition of art made for handheld devices and PDAs — the small-screen, stylus-driven, beamed and synced work of early mobile culture. Distribution was always the point: this art circulated by infrared beam, download and desktop sync rather than through galleries. The show asks what it means to re-distribute it now, when the original platforms are gone.

Recovering this work means rebuilding emulators, salvaging files and reconstructing the gestures the pieces assumed. The exhibition presents the results not as nostalgia but as a live argument about media memory, obsolescence and the politics of what gets preserved.

It is the exhibition companion to the book New Memory Rescue.
